GUARDIAN GIVES BACK TO SOCIETY DURING FESTIVE SEASON

Guardian Malaysia recently organised several charity programmes to bring some
cheer to the unfortunate during this year-end festive season.

Jennifer Wong, Senior Manager, Corporate Affairs and Event, Guardian Health And
Beauty Sdn Bhd said:

“At Guardian, we always strive to give something back to the society we operate in.
At the end of the year, during the festive and holiday season, when most people are
with their families, some are not so fortunate not to do so. Hence we feel that it is a
very appropriate time to do it.”

Recently Guardian Malaysia treated 55 children from Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak
Yatim Mary KL, a registered Home with the Welfare Department run with donations
from the public. It is a foster Home for children from poor families, dysfunctional
families, single parents and orphans

The 55 children were given the opportunity to shop for whatever they want at the
recently remodeled Guardian store at Berjaya Times Square and each received
presents including tokidoki cuddly toys.

Karyll Chee, a Guardian’s Face of Healthy Beauty winner was present to spend time
with the children at the Guardian store.

She said she was so happy that Guardian, in this season of giving, had given the
children the opportunity to shop for what they wanted and to experience the
pleasure of shopping.

“Seeing their happy faces really makes me feeling so grateful and blessed with what
I have,” she added.

In Kuching, Sarawak, Guardian had also worked with The Spring shopping mall
Kuching and Bintulu to deliver more than RM9000 worth of daily necessities for
Sarawak’s Children Cancer Society and Extrameal Bintulu. Guardian also visited
some children from Sarawak’s Children Cancer Society who are being treated at
Kuching’s General Hospital where they were given tokidoki plush toys to bring cheer
to them.

Additionally, Guardian customers also personally contributed their own cheer to the
needy by buying products at the Guardian store at The Spring Shopping Mall in
Kuching and Bintulu and dropping them off at the cashier counters to be delivered
to Hope Place Kuching, The Salvation Army and Extrameal Bintulu. This campaign
for The Spring Kuching ended on 18 December while for The Spring Bintulu, it will end
on 20 December 2019. These products will be collected and distributed to these
charity organisations at the end of December 2019.

AMOREPACIFIC MALAYSIA’S ‘MAKEUP YOUR LIFE’ DEBUT - A SUCCESSFUL LAUNCH

Cancer patients and survivors thronged Amorepacific Malaysia’s ‘makeup your Life’ event in collaboration with Breast Cancer Foundation with the aim of helping cancer patients get back to their daily lives faster with full confidence.

Held for the first time in Malaysia and also in conjunction with the company’s global CSR effort to reach out to cancer patients, participants at the event were treated to a session of fun-learning activities which include a skincare education and makeup class, an accessorising guide to using health benefits materials, as well as a cooking and eating right demonstration.

Amorepacific Malaysia started the event with skincare education focusing on the skin changes after cancer treatment and how to deal with them. Following the skincare education is the makeup class which teaches participants makeup techniques on brightening and evening out skin tone to create a healthy radiant look. Each participant received a makeup your Life kit worth RM700 which includes skincare and makeup products from Innisfree, Laneige, Mamonde and Etude House. All products are alcohol free, gentle to the skin and contain hydrating properties.

As part of the company’s effort to promote a healthy lifestyle, Amorepacific Malaysia also partnered with Stailoz who showcased and shared the health benefits of Titan Tech used in the Stailoz head tubes. Simple styling was taught using the head tube and each participant was also given a head tube sponsored by Amorepacific Malaysia.

Covering the healthy lifestyle segment is also a healthy cooking demonstration by Consultant Dietitian, Indra Balaratnam. Taking into consideration cancer patients’ low energy level during treatment as well as the need to go for frequent treatments, Indra demonstrated an easy to prepare savoury nutritional soup as well as a multigrain brown fried rice packed with nutrition while bursting with flavour to whet the low appetite of cancer patients undergoing treatments.

Margaret Chin, Country Manager of Amorepacific Malaysia when asked on the response of cancer patients for this event, expressed delight. “I’m happy to see a great turnout for this event. Breast Cancer Foundation has been a supportive partner for this event, and I look forward to future collaborations with them. With the success of the makeup your Life event, we will continue to organise this programme annually moving forward,” said Chin.

The makeup your Life programme is also part of a ‘20 by 20’ commitment by Amorepacific, which represents its promise to beautifying the lives of 200,000 women by contributing to their health, wellbeing and economic empowerment by the year 2020. Moreover, by joining the UN-led movement called Every Women Every Child, Amorepacific carries out their obligation to the fullest as a responsible global citizen thereby contributing to A MORE Beautiful World.

Breast Cancer Foundation who is a partner of Amorepacific Malaysia’s makeup your Life programme said they are happy to be part of this meaningful event. “makeup your Life is definitely a wonderful event for cancer patients and survivors to partake in. It’s an opportunity for them to meet, network and also to learn new skills that will help change their lives after cancer,” said Surayati Hamzah, the Chief Executive Officer of Breast Cancer Foundation.

The ‘makeup your Life’ programme has been conducted since 2008 starting with South Korea and later extended to the other regions which include China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Vietnam, Singapore and Thailand.

LEGOLAND® BRINGS JOY TO THE KIDS IN HOSPITAL SULTAN ISMAIL JOHOR

The LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort Police costume character joining the kids in the ward in a sing and dance activity.
LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort and LEGO® Malaysia teamed up to bring its awesome brand of fun and play to children in the pediatric ward in Hospital Sultan Ismail, Johor. The kids of the palliative care unit at the pediatric ward – a special unit for kids suffering from serious illnesses – were treated to awesome, fun-filled LEGO® activities that were meant to stimulate their imaginations through play. These kids, who are not allowed to go home during the holiday seasons, received the ultimate holiday treat, as they were treated to building and colouring activities, singing and dancing performances and a special appearance by LEGO® Police costume character.

Starting the visit with the LEGO® building activity, the children were challenged to a speed building activity where they were all given a LEGO® Christmas Set. The first five kids whom completed the activity won LEGO® sets and LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort merchandise. Following the building activity, the children got to express their imagination through the colouring activity. Aside from the building and colouring activities, the children had fun decorating their very own jelly based on their creativity using healthy fruits. Both LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort and LEGO® Malaysia worked hand-in-hand to sponsor various LEGO® sets and LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort merchandise for the kids’ play area for them to continue building their imagination. The day was ended with various goodies, sponsored by LEGO® Malaysia and LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort, were handed to all the children to enjoy.

“At LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort, we believe deeply that every kid deserves the right to play, and grow through play. This holiday season we wanted the children to have a great time and fully explore their imaginations through play even though they are unable to spend the holidays at home. We wanted them to forget their illness and just be kids once again, with no worries about treatment and pain. We felt compelled to bring the fun to them,” said Young Pil-Kim, General Manager (Interim) at LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort.

“We’re proud to have done this with like-minded partners in LEGO® Malaysia. Some say there is kind of a healing quality in laughter. Beyond the smiles and laughter that the kids experienced here today, it is our sincere hope that the awesome fun and games today brings them closer to their family and their imaginations. They could not visit us in LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort so we brought LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort to them. It is after all the Merlin Magic Wand’s spirit,” Young concluded.
