Make it a Handmade Holiday

Are you handy with a needle? Not a stranger to a hot glue gun? Do you know your way around a sewing pattern? Maybe you should consider putting those talents and skills to work and create handmade gifts to give for the holidays this year. There is a resurgence of demand for handcrafted items and people will appreciate your thoughtfulness and effort. Here are a few ideas that you might want to consider.

Just for Baby

A small floor quilt for a baby to play on when visiting friends is a handy item to keep in a diaper bag. With the huge variety of novelty flannels available, you could find just about any theme you want from licensed characters to polka dots and stripes to woodland creatures. Combine a couple of prints by putting them on opposite sides.

For Children

Make the little ones some little plush animals. You can easily find patterns at the craft store Long Beach CA crafters swear by. The fun of making them yourself is that you can customize the colors and prints as you wish and create a special little friend for your favorite or youngster to love.

For Teens

Even the teenagers in your life will appreciate handcrafted gifts when you stitch up a little backpack-style bag. Add a few pockets for cell phones and electronics. Add a drawstring closure for easy entry. You can get some fun results when you sew them out of an old pair of jeans or a denim jacket.

For Adults

Why not try some fun aprons on for size? Make a stylish barbecue-style apron for him and a cute vintage style with a ruffled hem for her. Add contrasting fabric pockets and grosgrain ties and you are all set. For added fun, make matching hot pads.
Whatever you choose to add your special touch to, your recipients will be flattered you thought enough of them to make it yourself. And you will have the satisfaction of sharing a part of yourself with your loved ones.

My DIY costumes for Luau Party, yeah I made something different on the day.

I choose to have it one side shoulder off, yeah sexy right?

One thing I didn't expect was wardrobe malfunction on the party night. lol

What happened? The ribbon I used to make for this grass skirt, it got stuck which mean I am unable to adjust it to tie better.

I bought the flower hand bands from Daiso, glow in the dark. RM5 and I bought two for two hands. :D

The top of this Hawaiian Tropical I cut it too much, that's why I need to use ribbon for tide the side.

Alright I am sure you excited to read soon the Butterfly Project with Luau Party. That's where I meet my favourite Kinohmitsu beauty drink and my first time at Vila Manja.

Today I am not feeling well, started coughing badly since last night. My boys are sick too.

My DIY Hawaiian Grass Skirt

I have got my grass skirt made, what do you think of it?

It is not made of grass, it is up to you whether you want it how long the skirt. I just estimate how long I need and cut the material. You can see there is long and short of the material.

The material is cloth fabric, I choose green as they look like leaves. You can use other material to make it, while mine takes around a week to complete it. That's because there's a lot of cutting and measurement. I went back the shop to purchase the cloth fabric again because not enough. lol

Oh my, I have a big waist!

Are you read for the Butterfly Project with Luau Party?

Green Hulk Costume

There goes my son playing with this mask I made for him.

Paper bags are useful, I love them so I used manila card to measure the paper bag then cut out before pasting them. I need to draw the pumpkin face on the manila card using marker pen.

The green sports long sleeve he's wearing too was one of the art he draw in class. His art of drawing a boy with Sports long sleeve, it was chosen by teacher to stick on the class's board.

Anyway he named this Green Hulk Costume. lol

Sea dragon costume for my son

I done baby octopus costume for my toddler, I never forget about my eldest boy. The sea dragon costume with more work to do than the baby octopus costume. I didn't know what to make for ocean mania costume then I remembered we have the sea dragon hat. I was like why not make a dragon suit to make it. Indeed after few tried and I never give up sewing it with my hands. Needles poking fingers, you will know the pain if you have get poke by one before. I mean sew by hand not by sewing machine.

If you are heading to Paradigm Mall today, you will find my boy there. I didn't expect that both baby octopus costume and sea dragon costume got selected as one of the eight finalists in Paradigm Mall this afternoon.

Hopefully my little one is able to go, I don't know if he can perform on stage since recovering. Sea dragon will be there today but he's still thinking what he wants to do.

She wears it every day and even in her shower, I know it is time for her to change new necklace. I don't have the picture as I not take picture of it yet but it is with my mom now. She is very happy with the necklace, I am sure it reminds her of beach and sea side.

The green background of the necklace reminds me of the Girl Talks Green Colour that I have taken part.

Three in one style pendant

I like to make use of my jewellery and I decided to make one that can be use two ways. Above you are looking at the heart bracelet, well take a look at another picture for the difference. Other than putting it on the bracelet, I can also use it on the ribbon necklace.

I know some people want a different look of the jewelry, well check out the cute doll with the pendant. If you have your own necklace you can also slip it, it will depend on the clasp part whether it is too big or not. Mine is using the lobster claw clasp, you don't see there is problem there.
