US Potato Fest, Culinary Best @KDU University College

It's January and Chinese New Year just two weeks away. This is a post that I have been waiting to write and share with you. An US Potato Fest, Culinary Fest that was held in December at KDU University College at Utropolis Glenmarie. It was seven weeks ago I join the cooking challenge.

US Potato Fest, Culinary Best

On the day, the event registration at 11am. It's my first time to go there, I used waze to get there.
The event starts about 11.30 in the morning, dietitian Indra Balaratnam was there to share her knowledge on potatoes. Before that, there were U.S. Potato Representative and Agricultural Attache that give their welcome speech on the event.

During the event, Chef Kenneth Kam has demo three recipes and demo. They are Puree of U.S Potato Soup, Roasted Quail with U.S Potato Stuffing & U.S Hash Brown, and Creamy Gratin U.S Potatoes.

My partner Ayue with me took part in US Potato Fest, Culinary Fest cooking challenge. We named our team as SHERAY because I am Sherry and she is Ayue, so combination the named SHERAY. We got to think of the name for our team and also what we want to cook before take part in the challenge. Both of us also love roses, roses are red, and roses with thorns too.

Before the cooking starts we get to choose US potatoes that we need to use, then we are given an hour to cook. 

They are total of ten teams that took part, and all of us are bloggers. Yeah even our partners in cooking. Below the top photo is team Chikiboom created by Khai/Nannie.

 So ten recipes created on the US Potato Culinary Challenge, because of we need to get in the hall for let the judges to try the meals. I didn't get to snap all the photos.

Every team has come up with delicious meals for judges to try. Indeed we have make two sets the same, one for display and the other set for judges to try. #USpotatoes can create many delicious food, desserts and soup. Endless creativity, and instant success if you know how to cook them.

They are total of Three Winners that won cash prizes and a trophy. 

Grand Prize : RM1,000 cash and a trophy (Elana Khong/Sidney Kan)

Second Prize: RM500 cash and a trophy (Nannie/Khai)

Third Prize: RM300 cash and trophy (team Sheray)

Yeah team Sheray won 3rd Prize, because the judges loved our rose potatoes. It was a fun day as everyone has been there from morning til afternoon around 3.30 pm.

Looking for kitchen remodeling

My friends love cooking, they are looking for kitchen remodeling. Since they are busy with working and seldom have time to go check out on kitchen remodeling, with internet access they can check online for quick kitchen renovations. I visited the website and find the website user friendly and easy to browse.

This website is where they can find the contractor services. I am not sure if they need the full kitchen remodel or partial kitchen remodel as I know they love cooking and they need bigger space for the kitchen perhaps they are looking for outdoor kitchen for their home.

I know cooking needs time so it's important you have enough space of cooking. You don't want to narrow yourself in a small space of kitchen cooking for your loved ones.

When my friends are looking for home, one of the important place they would look into is the kitchen. I know kitchen is the place when you spend time cooking and preparing meals.

Tony Roma's Donates RM20,000 to Rumah Titian Kaseh

Tony Roma's Malaysia brought cheers and much joy to the residents of Rumah Titian Kaseh (RTK) over the weekend on 23 August, a home and that provides shelter for single and abused mothers and orphans. The American casual-dining giant donated RM20,000 to Rumah Titian Kaseh and celebrated Hari Raya Aidilfitri with fun-filled games and tantalizing food.

Tony Roma's contribution to RTK was officiated in a cheque handover a ceremony that took place at RTK's shelter in Titiwangsa, which is home to 130 residents. The event, part of Tony Roma's corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, was attended by Revenue Valley's Chief Operating Office (COO), Dickson Low and RTK's founder Hajjah Sharifah binti Adian, and joined by over 100 children from the home.

Tony Roma's Malaysia collaboration with RTK began in June, when they made a pledge to contribute part of their sales revenue to support RTK's efforts. Throughtout June 30 to August 17, customers at all Tony Roma's Malaysia outlets who purchased their Beef 10 dish contributed RM5 to the cause. Customers and suppliers also supported the cause by contributing to the donation boxes places in all outlets.

Funds collected from this CSR campaign will be used to provide food, clothing, education and basic care for the residents of the home. Besides the RM20,000 donation, the team at Tony Roma's Malaysia also assisted with repair of cookers a the home, and donated everyday essentials worth up to RM6,000. They include food items, a commercial chiller and blender, rice cooker, serving trays and two desktops computers for schoolwork and research.

RTK was established in the year 1988 to provide shelter for single and abused mothers mothers and orphans. Today, three shelters operate under the RTK banner. Two are located in the vicinity of Taman Tasik Titiwangsa and the last is in the vicinity of Jalan Duta in Kuala Lumpur. RTK's mission includes providing basic care, vocational training and confidence-building activities for its residents.

The contribution to Rumah Titian Kaseh is part of Tony Roma's Malaysia's corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities toward fostering a more caring society. In the past, the casual-dining chain has contributed to the National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM) and SJC (C) Pin Hwa 1 Setia Alam.

The American casual-dining giant, haled the world's largest restaurant chain specialising in ribs, entered the Malaysian market in 2006 when Revenue Valley Sdn Bhd acquired the Malaysian franchise. It launched its seventh outlet in Nu Sentral Shopping in May.
