Sensodyne Tackles Widespread Tooth Sensitivity in Malaysia with Fresh Mint Launch and Nationwide "A Happy Mouth is… a Happy Mind" Campaign in conjunction with World Oral Health Day!

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA, 10 April 2025: A new survey* conducted by Haleon, a global leader in consumer health, reveals a significant public health concern in Malaysia: tooth sensitivity. The survey of 248 Malaysians showed that a staggering 69% experience regular tooth sensitivity, with 61.8% enduring the discomfort rather than seeking dental treatment. Sensodyne, Malaysia's #1 sensitivity toothpaste brand*, is re-launching its Fresh Mint toothpaste with a new and improved formula that provides long-lasting relief and encourages Malaysians to stop enduring and start living life worry-free from sensitivity – because Why Tahan?

The survey, conducted among the 18-40 age-group, showed that younger generations are highly affected by this issue. A total of 38.4% of the respondents were aged 26-40, while 34.6% belonged to the 18–25 age category, indicating a need for an increased awareness and effective solutions for sensitive teeth across all age groups.

This common condition disrupts the everyday habits of most Malaysians, with cold foods (58.5%) being the leading cause of sensitivity, followed by sweets and hot drinks, based on the survey. These findings highlight how tooth sensitivity prevents individuals from fully enjoying everyday pleasures. Alarmingly, only 13.1% actively address sensitivity by brushing their teeth to relieve discomfort, reflecting low awareness of best practices.

In response to this widespread issue, Sensodyne has announced the launch of Sensodyne Fresh Mint. This new toothpaste, specially developed with an improved formula, provides lasting relief and allows Malaysians to live life without the fear of sensitivity. Sensodyne Fresh Mint offers a range of benefits to tackle sensitivity:

24-Hour Protection: With continued use and twice daily brushing, enjoy your favourite foods and drinks throughout the day without irritation.
Lasting freshness: Sensodyne Fresh Mint with improved formulation provides lasting freshness with regular use.
Triple-Action Cleaning Technology: This innovative formula polishes teeth, removes surface stains, and brushes away bacteria for a cleaner, healthier smile.

Sensodyne’s effectiveness is further validated by a Real-World Evidence study published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health (IJERPH). The Dentine Hypersensitivity Experience Questionnaire (DHEQ) study identified that:
100% of regular Sensodyne users expressed daily satisfaction.
98% reported improvement in their sensitivity symptoms.
“Too many Malaysians endure the discomfort of tooth sensitivity, missing out on simple joys like a refreshing iced coffee or a scoop of ice cream. Instead of addressing the root cause, many wait for the pain to pass. These findings underscore the urgent need for effective solutions and greater awareness around sensitivity. That’s why Sensodyne, in collaboration with the Malaysian Dental Association, is intensifying efforts to raise awareness and promote early intervention – because if left untreated, sensitivity can lead to more serious dental issues,” shared Law Chen, Marketing Director at Haleon Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei.

Dr Mohd Salman bin Masri, a Periodontist representing Malaysian Dental Association (MDA) echoed this sentiment: “Tooth sensitivity is more than just a minor inconvenience – it can signal deeper oral health issues. Yet, many Malaysians endure it without realising how much it affects their daily lives. According to a real-life study recently published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, 93% of respondents said sensitivity takes the joy out of eating and drinking, impacting both physical comfort and emotional well-being. That’s why it’s crucial to address sensitivity early – right when you first feel it. Ignoring it could lead to bigger problems down the line."

To commemorate World Oral Health Day, Sensodyne is launching a nationwide campaign “A Happy Mouth is…A Happy Mind” to unite Malaysians. As part of this initiative, Sensodyne is collaborating with the Malaysian Dental Association to offer one month of complimentary dental check-ups across more than 500 clinics in Malaysia from 21 April to 21 May 2025

Sensodyne Fresh Mint is available nationwide at pharmacies, dental clinics, minimarkets, supermarkets, and hypermarkets and provision stores

Reasons Senior Living Communities Improve Older Adults' Lives

The older adults in our community need extensive care and help. However, it's hard to provide them with the ultimate care most of the time. You may choose to hire a nurse or persuade them to go to a nursing home to socialize with more people and get medical attention when they need it. Some of the reasons why the elderly may prefer living in a nursing home include:

Social Life And Companionship

At an old age, most people can barely work, and therefore, they are left with the option of staying at home on their own. Older adults may get lonely, especially if their spouse has passed on. Younger family members may spend most of their time at work, and helping their parents or grandparents may be challenging. Also, in homes for the elderly communities, they get a social life where they can talk and laugh all day with their mates.

Security

An elderly staying on their own may not be a good option, especially in unsafe places. Older people can hardly run or defend themselves. Nursing homes have become a better option for the sake of their safety. Safety hazards may also include falling or getting injured with no one to help them in the house.

Availability Of Nurses And Doctors

In Jacksonville Florida assisted living  homes, doctors and nurses are assigned to nurses. Whenever a medical emergency occurs, the elderly get immediate attention and care. While at home, the ambulance may be delayed, or the person may not be in a position to make an emergency call.

Dependency

It gets to a point where the elderly can barely walk or even feed without help. It becomes difficult to leave such a person at home. Nurses help them feed, clean, and offer emotional and mental support to their patients. Most nursing homes have the proper environment where the old can enjoy their free time. They also feel secure around people and get the necessary medical attention when needed.

SPAN OFFERS RM200 VOUCHER TO BUY WATER-EFFICIENT WASHING MACHINES IN THE JIMAT AIR 1.0 CAMPAIGN

Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Air Negara (SPAN) is teaming up with Shopee to encourage Malaysians to use water-efficient products through the Jimat Air 1.0 campaign, from now to 31 December 2021.

Malaysian households will be provided with a RM200 voucher when buying the selected water-efficient washing machines approved by SPAN through the e-commerce platform. There are more than 200 types of washing machines carrying the “Jimat 1.0” tag for ease of identification, to be featured in this campaign via a microsite.

The Jimat Air 1.0 microsite can be found in the Buy Malaysia in-app portal on the Shopee app homepage. Users can also reach the microsite by typing “Jimat Air” or “SPAN on Shopee” at the search bar.

Dato' Haji Ahmad Faizal bin Abdul Rahman, SPAN Chief Executive Officer said “Due to the increase of economic activities and population as well as urbanization, clean water has already become a scarce commodity in the country, therefore, it is important to educate the mindsets of Malaysians towards water conservation. I am hoping that each Malaysian can gradually reduce the amount of water that they consume daily through the awareness of programs such as the Jimat Air 1.0 campaign. Our ultimate goal is to reduce the country’s water consumption from the current 241 litre per capita per day, to 160 litre per capita per day by 2030.”

Kenneth Soh, Shopee Senior Manager (Marketing) said “Water plays an important role in our daily lives. Everyone has their responsibility in ensuring sufficient resources for years to come. Besides environmental conservation, consumers will not only obtain the savings from the vouchers, but they will eventually be benefitting from the reduction of their water bills. We thank SPAN for allowing us to be a part of this campaign which has a lasting impact not just on the lives of people but also the environment.”

For greater savings and a more rewarding experience, Malaysians can also look for deals during the e-commerce platform’s 10.10 Brands Festival which will take place from 20 September till 10 October 2021. The 10.10 Brands Festival will be offering Free Shipping Vouchers with a minimum spend of RM10 and 50% off Big Brand Discounts, along with a chance to Tap and Win a Toyota Vios. The lucky winner will be announced on 13 October 2021.

Marina Bay Sands Holiday

Marina Bay Sands is the most famous place in Singapore since it was opened in 2010 until today. Its hotel is an absolute icon, holding the infinity pool that you see in photos every time you Google for "Singapore". In short, Marina Bay Sands defines a luxury lifestyle that is totally Singapore.

If you're planning a 3 day 2 nights stay on this island, you can just stay in and chill in Marina Bay Sands. There's a mall, casino, skating rink, restaurants, museum and nightclubs. Imagine how many activities you can do here alone? Not to mention another famous attraction just next door is the Garden by the Bay. Connected by an overhead bridge from Marina Bay Sands Hotel.

If you are thinking of a trip, just a little suggestion here.

Depart from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore on Friday morning. It takes about an hour by air and 4 hours by land. You'll reach there in time to check-in at a hotel in Singapore. Which hotel? Why not spend a little extra money on luxury? You Only Live Once, right? Gotta try those ultra-comfy beds and pillows while you live. Anyway, it's so much relaxing when you focus your trip on one area at one time. You can indulge yourself with a great spa treatment at the end of a tiring day of relaxing. And please remind yourself of all the Insta-worthy photos you're going to have by paying a visit to the SkyPark. The Observation Deck is free entry for hotel guests too. You get to see a panoramic view across the bay. You can also use the infinity pool when you're a hotel guest.

After check-in, continue to do some shopping at The Shoppes. This retail space is massive and holds over 300 stores and food and beverage outlets with big names such as Chanel, Cartier & Gucci. There is a canal running thru the mall, and best of all, you can purchase a ride on a gondola. This is a must-do at The Shoppes so you get to relax after all the tiredness from shopping and dining. These activities should occupy you until night time.

Day 2 of the trip, start early in the morning how about a good swim, and then a good healthy breakfast. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the SkyPark infinity pool. You can go ahead with a visit to the Banyan Tree Spa for some TLC time. After feeling refreshed, around late afternoon, it is a good time to go to Gardens by the Bay. Enjoy the fresh greenery all around you. By the time you're done checking out the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest at least, you will have some time to find a good seat for the light show which starts at 7.45 PM and 8.45 PM.

Before you check out the following day, do pay a visit to the signature restaurants. There is plenty of choices, from Gordon Ramsay to Wolfgang Puck to Justin Quek. You will definitely be satisfied with the delicious food served, and the variety of it! Just make sure you have the energy to travel back to Kuala Lumpur.

And that is the end of your Marina Bay Sands holiday which I am sure will never be forgotten,

3 Tips For Buying Antique Rugs

Many people love the look of decorative rugs and want to take their home décor to the next level with a beautiful antique. Before jumping online or heading straight to a bazaar, it is a good idea to do some research to ensure the right rug is bought at the right price. The desired style, condition and quality of the rug should be determined before shopping so that money is not wasted on the wrong item.

1. Choose a Style

Whether the theme of the home is nautical, 1920s or futuristic, there is probably an antique rug that can be found that will look fantastic in one of the rooms. People around the world have been making rugs for thousands of years, and each culture has its own distinctive design style. Figure out what style and color will work best in the home and then research that specific type.

2. Inspect for Damage

Some wear and tear is expected, especially if the antique rug has been used in many other homes before. Depending on the damage, much of it can be fixed by places that specialize in Atlanta rug cleaning and restoration. However, be aware that frayed edges can be expensive to repair and are prone to unraveling.

3. Determine Quality

A handmade rug should be nearly identical on both sides and will not have any matting or rubber attached to the back. Some dealers may sell rugs that were intentionally faded to make them look old, so be on the lookout for rugs with bright colors, as the dyes on vintage and antique rugs usually remain vibrant for hundreds of years.

Shopping for an antique rug can be a fun experience for many people, as they have the opportunity to learn about the culture that inspired the rug and obtain a beautiful conversation piece in the process.

TYCTTV: The Future Advocate Poetry and Storytelling Competition

Open to all children between the ages of 4 and 12 as part of Royal Canin’s “Take Your Cat to the Vet” initiative

Submission deadline is extended! Post your entries by 12 noon 24 November, 2020

Newman Drama collaborates with Royal Canin Malaysia to launch the TYCTTV: The Future Advocate Poetry & Storytelling Competition starting 19 October 2020. The competition that opens to all children between the ages of 4 and 12 is part of Royal Canin’s “Take Your Cat to the Vet” initiative that has been continuously organised annually since 2016.

“Newman Drama wants to encourage young children especially to build the confidence to face real-life scenarios such as group interactions, oral communications, interpersonal skills and many more. With the recent announcement of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) that limits our physical classes, this competition couldn’t have launched at a better timing. We hope that children in Malaysia will take this opportunity to present and recite poetry, and share their stories about their favourite topic - their beloved cats!” said Siew Yong, Founder and Director, Newman Drama. “While we offer physical classes in the Klang Valley and Penang, now with the online competition, we can reach out to more children across the nation”.

The collaboration was signed to encourage more children to sharpen and showcase their talent in creative communications and public speaking. “Other than providing this platform for our future generation to express themselves and share their own insights, Royal Canin hopes to educate them about the importance of veterinary care for cats. We know that children love cats for the cute and playful nature, but we also need to teach them the proper steps to caring for our furry little friends - the type of food the cats need to maintain their overall health and shiny coat, the regular check-ups, the grooming and other aspects of pet care. With the collaboration with Newman Drama School, children can begin to cultivate the values of animal welfare from a very young age,” said Dr. Melissa Phoon, Corporate Affairs Manager, Royal Canin Malaysia.

The online competition is divided into two categories, poetry recital for children between the ages of 4 and 7 years old and the storytelling for those between the ages of 8 and 12 years old. Interested participants can send in a 3-minute video talking about taking their cats to the vet to qualify for the competition after playing an educational web game on cat care via link: www.animalhappiness.asia/mycat2vet

Once the video is ready for upload on the Newman Drama’s Facebook Event Page, the participants must tag @royalcaninMY and include the hashtags: #cat2vet, #tycttv #newmandrama for the judges to review.

“Newman Drama and Royal Canin will contribute up to 70% of the total evaluation, so the children are required to include their stories or experience taking their cats to the vet for extra marks.

Meanwhile, likes and shares on Social Media platforms will contribute to the remaining 30%,” Siew Yong added. “In conclusion, we’d like the children to share their sweet memories with their cats, hoping that they will continue to value their pets as part of their family members through this Social Media competition”.

The competition will run until 18th November 2020. Each child is entitled for one entry. Cash prizes, certificates and medals worth more than RM1,200 are up for grabs!

Diving into the science of swimming the fun way

SwimIn12's fun science-centred programme enables kids and teens to master swimming techniques

Did you know Sir Isaac Newton's Law of Motion that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction is applicable to when you're in water? While in the water, swimmers must stroke downward to keep moving and stay afloat – opposing equal force that the water expends to swimmers to keep them from moving.

There is no escaping science. It can be always used to explain everything in everyday life. Similarly, there is much science to learn in the art of swimming.

"It is an added benefit when students understand and apply what they know about the science when they swim. For example, in asking them to keep their hands straight, we demonstrate how this is similar to the shape of a ship, plane or rocket that helps to cut through air or water faster.

"When we talk about more air in the lungs will help them float while less air will sink, we apply this to the ballast tank in submarines. We have heard success stories from our Swim Science students from as far as Australia, Singapore and India," said E.J. Yeap who is Founder and Chief Executive Officer of SwimIn12.

The 11-year old institution kicked off the beta testing of Swim Science in March this year, just 10-days after the enforcement of Malaysia's Movement Control Order (MCO) following the worsening of the COVID-19 outbreak.

"The order meant that pools would be closed for three months and we thought of ways to keep an interest in swimming, especially for our younger students.

"Led by our coaching team leader Darshini Balakrishnan, we are proud to say we innovated a new style of teaching by incorporating the evergreen laws of science. It helps beginners understand the concept of swimming faster by simplifying the important theory of water physics in an engaging manner.

"The programme also explains how swimming theories apply in many aspects of aerodynamic and marine sciences. With the help of today's technology, we make Swim Science sessions interactive and interesting for students to follow," Yeap explained.

Catered to those aged between seven and 18, SwimIn12 hires the help of video communications programme Zoom to conduct lessons.

"We admit that it is not easy to win the crowd when we mention online sessions. However, with Swim Science it's not a one-way direction. It is more than just listening and watching. We keep it interesting with some activities like quiz sessions and even treasure hunts for things around the house that are relevant to the lesson.

"I'd commend my team of 30-odd coaches at SwimIn12 for innovating this programme, teaching and educating students and keeping the lessons interesting for our students," he adds.

Swim Science is offered in two packages – eight lessons (RM200) or 20 lessons (RM300) in a month. Yeap takes pride in saying that the programme is a purely Malaysian innovation, observing a similar approach taken a few months later, by a neighbouring country.

4 Things To Remember If You Have a House on the Water

Many people dream of living in a house near the water. With beautiful views and the sound of nature just outside the door, the only thing better is playing with your boats, skis, and other personal water toys. If you are one of those who want to live near the water, you should remember a few things before you buy that house.

1. Insurance Protection

Water has a habit of wreaking havoc without the slightest notice. That is why you need to understand what type of weather conditions your potential home will be subject to. Deep flooding, torrential hurricanes, and thick ice could surround and invade your home each year. Protect yourself by taking preventive measures by purchasing insurance for each contingency.

2. Watercraft Maintenance

Jet skis, scuba boats, and other personal watercraft help make the water an enjoyable place to live, but that can end when one of the toys breaks down. Create a budget for the possible failure of your toys, and then you can easily find replacement marine parts.

3. Pest Restriction

Houses near water attract pests for some reason. Whether it is mice, raccoons, or squirrels, the critters can be destructive to your home’s foundation and attic. Ask a pest protection team to walk around your home to help you identify possible routes of pest intrusion. The team can then block the entry points and prevent damage to your home.

4. Intruder Security

Unless you live on the property all year long, the possibility of intruders, burglaries, and vandalism can be a real concern. You can prevent property break-ins by investing in heavy locks, camera systems, and monitored security. Windows should also be shuttered if you leave the property for several days at a time.

A home on the water can be a dream come true if you make preparations for potential problems. Find insurance, create a budget, and secure your home so you can live peacefully all year long.

Options for When You Need Money

Emergencies happen. If you don’t have the cash available in your emergency fund, you may be wondering what you can do to cover the cost. Fortunately, you have options. Here are a few to consider.

Take Out a Loan

One of the most common options for people in need of money is a personal loan. Bank loans typically have great rates and terms (especially if you have excellent credit), but the approval process can take a while. If you need money quickly, you can consider other types of loans such as peer-to-peer lending or short term loans Mississippi.

Tap into Your Home’s Equity

If you own your home and have built up some equity in it, you may be able to tap into to pay for what you need with a home equity loan or line of credit. While these provide excellent options, there is one important thing to keep in mind. Both of these options use your home as collateral. If you default on your payments, you risk losing your house.

Ask a Family Member or Friend

Another option to consider is to ask a family member or friend for help. Asking someone you know for money can be hard, and some people may not feel comfortable lending. You can, however, offer to draw up a contract and have the document notarized, so your family member or friend knows that you will pay them back (or they have recourse if you don’t). You can include information like payment terms, when payments will be made, and if you’ll be paying interest on what you borrow.
Finding yourself in financial need can be scary, but understanding your options can help make things easier. If you do choose to borrow, make sure that you understand the cost of your loan and compare your options before you sign.

Communities in Need in the Klang Valley Turn to #AyamWithYou Community Pantries

While times are tough due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Malaysians are pulling together to support communities with kindness and trust, giving old methods such as communal food pantries an innovative spin.

The #AyamWithYou Food Pantry initiative, by Ayam Brand™ and 13 charity homes nationwide is helping charities, empowering them to help surrounding communities that are in need.

For example in the Anjung Singgah homeless shelter in Jalan Lekiu is leading the way for surrounding communities by managing the #AyamWithYou pantry in this area.

“We were concerned for the well-being of some families here especially during Ramadan and for Raya. We don’t have much, but they had less. We have been part of the Ayam Brand™ Community Care campaign in the past. This year Ayam Brand™ again provided our organisation with two months’ supply of their products for our residents, and suggested the food pantry or gerobok rezeki as a solution for the community. They have provided a weatherproof pantry and a separate stock of products that we can bless the community with,” said Anjung Singgah Yayasan Kebajikan Negara, operations officer, Encik Amir Rudin Bin Abdul Rahman.

The weatherproof pantry is set up outside the shelter so that social distancing is observed. It is open to the public round-the-clock. Staff and residents update the community about the food pantry through community groups on social media and messaging apps, and they top up the Ayam Brand™ products daily.

“We sent out messages by WhatsApp and Facebook that the food pantry items are free for those who need, while those who want to contribute can add dry foods, snacks, stationery, cleaning products and other essential items. The residents relish the responsibility of managing the food pantry and keeping it well-stocked. They get to practice kindness and generosity,” Encik Amir Rudin said.

Response to the initiative has been overwhelming with the daily allocation of Ayam Brand™ products such as tuna, baked beans, processed peas, canned pineapples and coconut milk snapped up quickly, and other essentials being added, with strong support from the community.

“Surprises have turned up at the food pantry including fresh vegetables, dates, baby formula, diapers and Raya cookies! We can feel the #KitaJagaKita closeness. The #AyamWithYou food pantry project has made this Raya very special by building stronger bonds of kindness, trust and support in our community, allowing us to contribute actively well-being,” he added.

Through its long-running Corporate Social Responsibility programmes Ayam Brand™ has contributed more than 2 million healthy meals for charity, providing nutritious food to more than 21,800 people from 524 charity organisations and NGOs over the past 12 years.

This year the brand has supported Covid-19 front liners at Hospital Sungai Buloh, 13 charity homes, the #AyamWithYou food pantry initiative, and the Anjung Singgah Kuala Lumpur Homeless Transit centre, with plans to support more organisations and communities.

“Covid-19 drastically changed our plans for the 13th annual Ayam Brand™ Community Care Campaign, but we see the positive impact of the #AyamWithYou Food Pantry initiative. It changes the narrative for our charity home partners, from being recipients to being contributors and donors in their respective communities. The community here has embraced the food pantry concept of ‘take what you need, leave what you can’ creating a virtuous cycle that is sustaining the initiative” said Ayam Brand Malaysia’s Marketing Manager, Nathan Deverre.

Ayam Brand™ staff have helped spread the word on the food pantry so that more can benefit or contribute, and started the ball rolling by being among the first to contribute non-food items to the pantry.

“Starting with our families and friends we sent out a list of necessities for the pantry. Those who could dropped off essential items at the pantry. The community are so willing and eager to help. They have shared the location of the pantry with those in need as well. All of us can help within our means,” said an Ayam Brand™ team member who lives in the area.

The #AyamWithYou food pantry is located Anjung Singgah, Lot 28-32 Jalan Hang Lekiu, 50100 Kuala Lumpur and at Pertubuhan Kebajikan Kasih Nurul Hasanah No 1, Jalan Pimping Kanan, Ukay Heights 68000 Ampang Selangor.

3 Types of Insurance You Might Not Know You Need

When looking at insurance companies in Fort Myers FL, you may be overwhelmed at the number of policies that are available. While you likely understand that house, health and auto insurance are necessities, there may be other types that are less known that you still need. If you are in the market for new insurance policies, consider these that you may not have thought of: Renter's insurance, life insurance and boat insurance.

Renter's Insurance

If you rent a home or live in an apartment, you may breathe a sigh of relief that you do not have to cover the insurance costs for your dwelling. However, it is a good idea to have renter's insurance for the contents of your place. This type of insurance is usually relatively inexpensive compared to home insurance but can be extremely helpful if a flood or fire happens at your place of residence.

Life Insurance

If you are young and healthy, you may not feel the need for life insurance. You may consider it something that only old people need. However, it is important that your family members are taken care of in case anything ever happens to you. You never know when an accident might happen, and it is important that your family is able to take care of themselves after your untimely death. Some people even view this type of policy as a retirement investment if they, fortunately, do not have to use it for its intended purpose.

Boat Insurance

If you have a boat for recreation, you may have never thought of having it insured. However, something could happen to it and leave you still paying off a boat that you no longer have. Insurance can give you peace of mind about not losing this expensive piece of property.
When deciding what type of insurance you and your family needs, it is important that you consider all the types available.

What To Do Before Moving In

When you buy a new home, there is a lot to think about and do. You will need to move into the new place, bringing all your stuff, and you will need to start making the place feel like home. The list of things to do may seem almost endless, but there are some things that should take priority. Here are three things you should do to your new house before moving in.

Locks

While it may seem strange, changing the locks on your doors is one of the first things you should do after buying a new house. You have no way of knowing who the previous owners gave keys to, or if you are the only one with access to the place. If you are looking for something high grade, you may want to hire a residential locksmith DC to ensure it’s one of the best.

Systems

For those who like upgraded, electronic systems throughout the home, installing them before you move in is often very helpful. Home automation systems can make living in your home extremely convenient. It can allow you to control the electricity, thermostat, appliances, and some entertainment systems. They also enable you to check the security of your home, alerting you when there is movement around it.

Amenities

Once you have bought your new home, you should call your internet and cable company to see how soon they can set up the connections. If you do not have it done before you move in, you may be without television for the first few days you are there. Many depend on these things for work or entertainment purposes, and they often forget to have them put in before they move in.
Ensuring these things are completed before moving in can make your move easier and relieve some stress. Although they can be done after you get settled, it is simpler to have them done before.

A COLLABORATION BETWEEN AIMSMET GROUP & ICM, UK

AIMSMET GLOBAL under the AIMSMET GROUP collaborates with Institute of Commercial Management (ICM), United Kingdom launched the “Earn while you Learn” – Industry Sponsorship Program (ISP) towards Skills Apprenticeship Scheme for a Malaysia Skilled Future. The Program was endorsed by YB Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Bin Ismail, Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP). The Chairman of AIMSMET GROUP, Professor Dato’ Dr Jayles Yeoh, the CEO of Institute Commercial Management, Mr. Adair Ford and the CEO of AIMSMET Lifestyle Service, Ms Alice Hoang paid a courtesy visit to the Minister’s office and the endorsement was sealed by the signing of plaque by the Minister and the CEO of ICM, UK. The ultimate goal isto draw young Malaysians, regardless of their starting points, into jobs and sectors that are growing, and equip them with the right skills and experience under the right ICM program for careers in these areas.

In recent months, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad addressed that the government
will press priority on technical and vocational education and training (TVET) under the Shared
Prosperity Vision in efforts to increase the people’s employment through skilled competency.
Dr Mahathir mentioned that TVET played an important role in improving the skills of workers
and that training must be made a precedency. The Shared Prosperity Vision will encompass
the 12th and 13th Malaysia Plans, spanning 10 years from 2021 to 2031. Thus, the launching
of the ISP for Skills Apprenticeship Scheme with AIMSMET LIFESTYLE SERVICE as the pioneer
is a timely program that is poised to champion the government’s vision in reducing the
unemployment rate in Malaysia and enhancing the skilled competency among the youths for
a digital economy.

The Critical Skills Monitoring Committee (CSC) identified that two of the critical jobs-lacking
in its work force are the service and sales workers. Among the reasons are lack of fluency in
English, communications skill, customer service skill and the ability to multi-task. Hence the
retail sector, mainly the Food & Beverage areas, requires immediate solutions to engage and
train local Malaysian, especially school leavers, to fill these gaps.

Since the initial introduction of the Industry Sponsorship Program in September 2017 and the
recruiting partnership with ACT Hubs Sdn Bhd in 2018, AIMSMET have over 30 industries
ranging from Food & Beverage to Digital Economy to Client Services such as Starbucks Coffee
Company, McDonald’s (Gerbang Alaf Restaurants), Marrybrown, Only World Group (OWG),

Watsons and many more sponsoring more than 80 school leavers and graduates in the ICM
programs. Through this movement, the skills, passion and contributions of every individual
will drive each organization’s next phase of human capital development towards an advanced
mastery of skills and lifelong learning.

During the meeting, YB Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Bin Ismail, Minister of Domestic Trade
and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP), said, “In order for Malaysia to become a developed nation,
the Malaysian human capital needs to be further developed with programs such as AIMSMET’s Industry Sponsorship Program. As the government, we are committed to reduce the disparities of income for those living in the rural areas. We have applied the spirit of shared prosperity in the 2020 Budget and have prioritized sectors such as TVET and skills training. While Malaysia has made great strides in human capital development since independence, we cannot afford to sit on our laurels as we still have much to do before achieving our goal of being a knowledge economy that is competitive on a global scale.”

In conjunction with the endorsement of the “Earn while you Learn” – Industry Sponsorship
Program, a panel discussion was held on the topic, “A Paradigm Shift in Education & Training
– Skilled Apprenticeship Model”. 0ver 200 university students, educationists and industry
players were present to gain knowledge and industry insights. Among the panelists were
Dato’ ’Sri Michael Kang, President of SME Malaysia, Datuk Dr Chef Wan, Celebrity Chef, Datin
Winnie Loo, Founder of ‘A Cut Above’, Dr Janson Ang, Founder of The Giving Bank
Organization and Mr. Adair Ford, CEO of Institute of Commercial Management, UK while Prof.
Dato ’Dr Jayles Yeoh, Chairman of AIMSMET Group was the moderator.
Speech by Prof. Dato ’Dr Jayles Yeoh, Chairman of AIMSMET Group

According to Prof. Dato ’Dr Jayles Yeoh, Chairman of AIMSMET Group, “The aim of this
Industry Sponsorship Program is to bridge the gap and speed up the pace in producing
knowledge workers through the private sector. AIMSMET is ambitiously looking to
revolutionize the academic thinking by introducing real life education to ensure no misfits to
the relevant industries. With continuous support from the government and private sector,
the ambition to make Malaysia as the global leader in providing High Quality Knowledge
Worker for various industries is realized. Ultimately we hope to see positive spin off for the
economy as we are able to provide skilled knowledge workers for Foreign Direct Investments
(FDI) into the country.”

Also present at the event was Miss Tiffany Lim, Founder of ACT Hubs, who works closely with
AIMSMET to connect with Industry Partners and to recruit school leavers for the program.
Both AIMSMET & ACT presented a cheque of RM20,000 to support Yayasan Food Bank
