Options for When You Need Money

Emergencies happen. If you don’t have the cash available in your emergency fund, you may be wondering what you can do to cover the cost. Fortunately, you have options. Here are a few to consider.

Take Out a Loan

One of the most common options for people in need of money is a personal loan. Bank loans typically have great rates and terms (especially if you have excellent credit), but the approval process can take a while. If you need money quickly, you can consider other types of loans such as peer-to-peer lending or short term loans Mississippi.

Tap into Your Home’s Equity

If you own your home and have built up some equity in it, you may be able to tap into to pay for what you need with a home equity loan or line of credit. While these provide excellent options, there is one important thing to keep in mind. Both of these options use your home as collateral. If you default on your payments, you risk losing your house.

Ask a Family Member or Friend

Another option to consider is to ask a family member or friend for help. Asking someone you know for money can be hard, and some people may not feel comfortable lending. You can, however, offer to draw up a contract and have the document notarized, so your family member or friend knows that you will pay them back (or they have recourse if you don’t). You can include information like payment terms, when payments will be made, and if you’ll be paying interest on what you borrow.
Finding yourself in financial need can be scary, but understanding your options can help make things easier. If you do choose to borrow, make sure that you understand the cost of your loan and compare your options before you sign.

Reasons To Use a Money Transfer

When a loved one needs funds quickly, there are many options available to you to use. Sending a money transfer to them is quick, cheap, and easy to retrieve on their end. Here are a few reasons you should use this service.

Have the Money In a Short Time

If a friend or family member is in need of inmate money transfers los angeles ca so they can purchase items while incarcerated, enacting a money transfer can be quicker than if you were to go through your bank. If you are willing to pay an additional fee, they can have the funds in hand instantaneously instead of waiting several days.

Lower Rates

Sending money by transfer can be less expensive than if you do it through a financial institution. This is especially true if your source is overseas. Banks can charge a high fee to process your request while companies that work with transfers have lower rates. However, shop around for the best rate before proceeding with your transaction.

Easy To Apply

While a bank might make you apply for an account with them to send cash to someone else, all you need to do to complete a money transfer is fill out a form. This can be done on paper or online. If you use your computer to finalize it, it will calculate your fees and your exchange rate if applicable. It will also give you an estimated date that it will happen.

Can Be Retrieved Worldwide

Working with a money transfer company is good for the recipient as well as the sender. They can pick the money up at multiple locations across the globe. However, warn them to take someone with them that they trust and hide the funds when they get them. This will keep them safe from those who would try to steal from them.

November blues

Beautiful sunset at Amverton Cove Gold Island Resort
It's November and it's Thursday, evening and raining here. Just sharing with you last month we went for a short vacation at Amverton Cove Golf Island Resort. Feel free to read the post, as you can find not just kids activities there. There's other activities for adults and also for golfers, do visit their Facebook to find out.

Today supposed to be a media trip that I can follow to go for Lost World of Tambun but not able to make it as it's an important day today to meet with teachers on son's education. Not just today the last media invitation also been rejected as it clashed with children's report card day. Last media invitation was to Legoland Malaysia.

The 28 October Friday, was an unlucky day for me, I have got a car accident. The 4 wheels truck hit the Toyota Vios and Toyota Vios hits my car. I was on the way to fetch my youngest son from kindergarten. I didn't make it to fetch him, I called sister-in-law about this and lucky that niece was at home she can help to fetch my son. My parents in law were here too, it's also the day they went back to hometown together with niece. At the moments, my car is not repair yet, the police report is RM34 and it showed that the driver's fault is the 4 wheels truck.

Next year gonna be a busy year for me and the kids as son will be Standard Six and youngest son is Standard One in Primary School. Besides busy he is busy tuition at school, he is also tuition outside. Got to balance the life of education having entertainment and also exercise for healthy living. No doubt I got to spend time for myself too, got to see how and make arrangement for it, perhaps pampering time, etc. I didn't have a transporter for my children as it is calculate by per person the payment for a way, both ways will be different payment and not yet include the outside tuition location to send. Now you know why there's a lot of calculation to do.

Few years back I followed the media trip as my dear's working nearer to home and able to fetch sons. But he's further away now and unable to help me to fetch them if I go, there's rider available now which I can pay if there's places I need to go. But then I need to consider about the children first like there's tuition or not and the time is suitable or not. There's lot to consider as a mom, not just parenting but also lifestyle of children.

By the way, anyone has got a good car workshop in Subang Jaya to recommend?

4 No-Brainer Ways to Survive Your First Year of College

No-brainer means common sense things that you really shouldn’t have to think about. However, sometimes, when life is a bit too hectic, you forget to stop and think. This article, for all college beginners, details 4 no-brainer ways to survive your first year of college.

Learn to Cook for Yourself
Cooking for yourself is a big part of being a responsible, independent adult. To survive, you need to learn how to do for yourself, but most college students have a reputation for living off of ramen noodles and cheap microwave dinners. Crockpot meals and single pot dinners are big hits with cook-for-yourself college students. You can grab inexpensive ingredients, throw them together in a soup, chili, or stew, and eat well for a week on what you’ve made. No mess, no fuss.

Stash Cash for a Rainy Day
College students with loans commonly get a leftover amount in a check at the end of their school year. However, instead of spending that cash on nonsense that you don’t need, stash your cash for a rainy day. Not literally, but a time when you really need it. You never know when an extra hundred bucks will come in handy. You should also look into getting a part-time job to pay for school and everyday expenses.

Refurbished or Secondhand is Best
The allure of brand new electronics is a powerful one, but resist if you can. Instead of grabbing thousands of dollars of new high-tech gadgets, go with a refurbished Panasonic Toughbook. Or, shop secondhand for gently used electronics for your schoolwork. These tech gadgets still work perfectly, and a cosmetic scratch or two is easily covered with your favorite decals or custom stickers.

Stay Away from Obviously Bad Influences
In some ways, your first year of college can resemble high school, with cliques and possible conflicts around every corner. However, you can survive the first year of peer pressures and ridiculous behaviors by staying away from obviously bad influences. If someone never goes to class and prefers to constantly party, that’s someone you should probably avoid. Parties are great, and it’s good to go every once in a while. But know your limits, because you have a future to think about.

The above-mentioned quartet of college survival tips are no-brainers. You should work hard, think smart, and avoid the negatives. Easy-peasy. If you ever find yourself caught up in the parties and nonchalance of cliché college life, refer to the list above and reset your mindset.

Strategies for Saving Up a Down Payment

While minimum down payments have decreased, it is best to have at least a 20 percent down payment before purchasing a home in order to truly take advantage of the lowest interest rates, inexpensive monthly mortgage payments and overall savings, according to Betterment.com.

Prospective homebuyers also need to take into consideration other closing costs, like appraisal, private mortgage insurance and property taxes. You should also make sure you have an emergency fund and enough savings for potential home repairs, in addition to your down payment, before purchasing your home. Therefore, it is important that you are serious about saving your money before even considering buying a home even when the real estate scene in Malaysia is at its lower point these years.

Read these tips for saving up for a down payment, as well as other closing costs, home repairs and your emergency fund.

Open a Savings Account

If you are currently only using a checking account, open a savings account at the same bank or credit union. Using one financial institution is much more convenient, since most banks and credit unions allow you to transfer funds back and forth from accounts electronically and instantaneously. You can easily
move money into savings from your checking account online without visiting a physical bank. Savings accounts also tend to have a much higher interest rate than checking accounts, so this is an easy method of saving money while gaining more in interest.

Start a Budget
You can create a budget on a spreadsheet, according to The Simple Dollar. Write down your monthly gross income, then subtract taxes and other regular monthly costs -- like rent, gas, utilities, transportation, car payments, credit car bills and student loans -- from your paycheck. Once you have subtracted those steady costs, you can see how much money you have left each month and determine how to spend or save it.

Begin by tracking your spending for two or three months, writing down your restaurant, entertainment, parking and clothing expenses. You will be able to quickly see how much money you take in and how much goes out on a monthly basis and determine where costs can be cut. Income and expenses tend to be about the same from month to month, so the only way to start saving more money is to either bring in more money or change your spending habits.

Change Your Spending Habits

Determine if there are any costs that you can cut from your day-to-day life. For example, are you subscribed to any monthly services that you don’t really need? Do you really need to buy fancy coffee from the coffee shop every day or can you simply make coffee at home and bring it to work in a travel mug? Can you decrease the number of times you go out to eat at restaurants every month? Can you cut out going to the movies on a weekly basis? Once you change these spending habits, you can really start saving money. Don’t be afraid to be ruthless in cutting costs from your budget. Ask if each and every dollar is justified.

Bring in More Money

Those that save the most money are people who have multiple streams of income. If possible, take on an additional part-time or even full-time job. Consider freelance writing or selling any clothing or belonging you no longer want on websites like eBay. You can also start your own side business to earn more money. Starting a business could be financially risky, as many businesses fail. However, starting a successful business is one of the best ways to build your savings.

Check Interest Rates

Interest rates differ vastly for credit cards, saving accounts, car loans and other types of loans and accounts. Therefore, it is important that you go through every bill and account and check the interest rate on each to determine if you can do better. For example, if you are consistently paying off your credit card payments, then you should call your credit card company and tell them that you want a lower interest rate. You can easily achieve a lower rate just by asking.

With car loans, it often makes sense to prepay your debt, but many loans use a sum-of-the-digits interest calculation, in which case, prepayments are a less attractive option. Auto lenders are exempted from rules that mortgage lenders are subjected to, which means that auto loans are less regulated. If
you are paying really high interest on your car, it might make sense to sell it and buy a less expensive used car instead, especially if you want to focus on saving money for your down payment right now.

Check Your Credit Score

Your ability to borrow money for your home is closely linked to your credit score. Therefore, it is crucial that you have strong credit. Check your credit score on a regular basis to make sure that it does not have any errors and to know and understand where you stand and if you need to improve. Make sure that you check your credit report for factual errors or out-of-date items several months before you apply for your mortgage, so that you have enough time to take care of any errors or disputes before getting pre-approved for your home loan.

Accept Gifts

There is another source of savings that is often overlooked and that is gifts. You are allowed to use gifts from parents, relatives and friends for your down payment. In order for money to be recognized as a gift, the donor must sign a gift letter, explaining that there is no expectation of repayment or interest.

There are also down payment assistance programs that help first-time buyers purchase homes. While some offer interest reductions and tax benefits, others offer grants that don’t need to be repaid. Look into these assistance programs and determine whether you fit the qualifications before moving forward with applying for grants or gifts.

Spend RM243.40 on my car battery

This morning when I start the car engine, it's not working. My dear opened the car bonnet to check. I called the Tayar Shop in the morning it was round 8.45am. They are opened in the morning and asked me to wait around 15 minutes as they will send someone over to change the car battery.

It is RM230 for the Myvi Century car battery. Price after inclusive of GST is RM243.40. This month I spend quite a lot money on my car. Just last week I have my car serviced and it cost nearly RM500. I was told that I need to change the car's 4 tayar because they are over due 2 years. Do you know that we are supposed to change car tyre every 3 years? I don't know that, so means that my car's tyres are 5 years old. It would be about RM800 more or less depend type of tyre to change.

I haven't change the tyres, I am still looking if there's any good deal around.

Tuition centres for son

Parenting is never easy, part of it would be guiding children in education. I find that my son needs better guidance from tuition teachers as he lack of listening to me if I guide him. Next year he is Standard 4, it's getting tougher for him.

Instead of daycare tuition centre, he will be going to tuition centres instead. Hope this would help him in his studies. He is poor in Bahasa Malaysia and Bahasa Cina. I tried asking for tuition centres near the school, somehow they only prefer children with better grades or good grades. Yeah they told me that they will prefer to accept children who gain 60 and above in their exams. They have one class with more than 27 students. My son is poor in comprehension (karangan) for both languages of BM and Chinese.

I found two tuition centers away from home which is 5km away. One tuition center is main focus to tuition him on Chinese language that he is poor. I was told that he might need to downgrade to Standard 3 tuition if he cannot catch up in Standard 4 tuition. Well, we'll know about this when the school start as the tuition centre will need to see his process in class, to see if he can catch up or not. I understand as it's important that he needs to read more and write more in Chinese as I know it's not his favourite subject.

Many parents told me that daycare tuition centre is not good for children as they cannot learn from there. Son told me that his daycare tuition centre changes of tuition teachers several times, most teachers are SPM leavers as they are going to go college soon.

Happy Holiday to you!

Wow looks like it is a long week for this week yeah? Everyone is on vacation or you still need to work? As you know being a mom, there's no break for us. Time flies I cannot believe that my boy going to be seven next year and he will be in primary school. Yeah time to get serious with studies and I hope the teacher is not too hard on him.

On the other hand, my 16 months old baby is super active. He can climb on chair or container even punishment is no good for him. He is not scare and he is bold enough to give you a big smile that he is walking up the stairs by himself. Cheeky boy is never tired but adult will be tired, my dad will surrender if he's like that. Anyway my dad's busy helping to care for my bro's twins.

Now it is quite peaceful as baby is sleeping in the sarong, we had the electric sarong so he sleeps longer. The electric sarong passed down from brother-in-law, his children used it before. I am sure you know that electric sarong cradle is not cheap, it would be at least two hundred and above.
