11street launches ‘Shocking? YES!’ campaign

11street Kicks Off Year-End Campaign to Drive Sustainable Business Growth
with Stronger Product Variety
· Total order volume for global products has grown remarkably by double this
year as compared to 2016
· 11street expects 50% increase in gross merchandising value (GMV) and cross border trading order during the campaign period

The competitive fray of e-commerce has led to increased competition in the e-commerce industry in Malaysia, suggesting that growth is imminent for local operators1. With that, 11street – Malaysia’s number 2 online marketplace – is driving initiatives to accelerate its business growth by introducing a plethora of local and international products to contribute to Malaysia’s e-commerce industry. Chuljin Yoon, Chief Operating Officer of 11street shared: “With the rapid digitalisation of economies, we are looking at a world of connected businesses. China, Japan, Korea and USA top the chart for active e-commerce penetration, so no doubt the Southeast Asian countries including Malaysia are a melting pot of opportunities for the e-commerce boom to take place.

“As an online marketplace, 11street serves the role in providing consumers with the convenience of online shopping and a greater product variety at competitive price, locally and internationally, while growing the local e-commerce market.”

Yoon also pointed out that since 2016, cross-border trading (CBT) in Malaysia has been experiencing exponential growth. For 11street Malaysia alone, the total order volume for global products has grown remarkably by double this year as compared to 2016. The most popular countries whose products are most sought after were China, Japan, Korea and USA. Worth mentioning, the total order for China products grew by 9 times this year with more than 70% purchase under the home improvement and personal care range of products.

Global products of the highest demand were items such as car camera, cosmetic make-up bag, travel bag and electronic gadgets, so with this information and through their market insights, 11street is en route to execute campaigns that benefits consumers with a wider product variety, yet continues to boost the growth of e-commerce in Malaysia.

It’s all smiles as the balloon pops, signifying the beginning of the ‘Shocking? YES!’ campaign on 11street.
Meeting local demands with the ‘Shocking? YES!’ Campaign
Onwards through a past 11street survey, shoppers have revealed that price plays a key factor when it comes to online shopping; the other factor includes product abundance for all categories across international brand standards.

Yoon elaborated: “Consumers shop online for lower prices. Apart from sourcing for affordable and a greater variety of quality products, 11street’s commitment is to deliver a holistic online marketplace to Malaysian consumers where they can find great discounts and an exciting shopping experience in a single place. 11street seeks to deliver convenience to our shoppers, at lower prices – guaranteed!”

More than 100,000 Lowest Price Guaranteed Deals and Free Shipping for Purchase above RM29, good news for shoppers who love to shop and doesn't like to queue for paying or mom who are busy with parenting.
By collaborating with thousands of locally established and globally recognised brands, the
launch of 11street’s year-end online shopping campaign – ‘Shocking? YES!’ – will introduce 100,000 Lowest Price Guaranteed products and free shipping for purchase above RM29 under the
Shocking Deals section beginning 1 November 2017 and ending 31 December 2017,
with over thousands of sellers and international brands to shop from.

With variety of choice to choose online, we can shop online during this year end campaign.

YES!’ campaign.

During the campaign, consumers will enjoy a range of products from global participating brands, namely Globalegrow (a public listed brand on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange with market capitalisation exceeding US$3 billion); Anker and Aukey (top ranking global Amazon sellers
leading in the charging category, and consumer electronics and mobile tech accessories respectively, in more than 20 countries including the USA, Japan and Europe); Hada Labo (number 1 face lotion in Japan, with one bottle purchased every two seconds); OLENS (number 1 cosmetic lens supplier in Korea); MamyPoko; and Samsung, to name a few.

Other participating brands include Banggood, Banila Co., Bluelans, Caring Pharmacy, CJ WOW Shop, Courts, Lotte, Mamonde, Nongshim, Skechers, Tesco, UEB Technology, and many others.

11street Expects 50% Increase in Overall Business

Yoon concluded: “As consumers embark on a shopping spree during the year-end sale season, 11street aims to achieve at least a 50% increase in GMV and its cross-border trading orders. We believe that today’s launch of our ‘Shocking? YES!’ will pave the way to redefining online
shopping for Malaysians, by giving them more product variety bundled with shocking
promotions that they cannot resist.”

As the number 2 online marketplace in the country, 11street’s growing business portfolio now has more than 40,000 sellers with over 13 million listed products, and has an average of 16 million monthly visits.

The launch of 11street’s ‘Shocking? YES!’ campaign was witnessed by Tan Sri Datuk Ter Leong Yap, President of the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM); Akira Kajita, Managing Director of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Kuala Lumpur; Yeon Sung Whan, Director of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA); and Adam Tan, Vice President of the China Entrepreneurs Association in Malaysia (PUCM).

4 No-Brainer Ways to Survive Your First Year of College

No-brainer means common sense things that you really shouldn’t have to think about. However, sometimes, when life is a bit too hectic, you forget to stop and think. This article, for all college beginners, details 4 no-brainer ways to survive your first year of college.

Learn to Cook for Yourself
Cooking for yourself is a big part of being a responsible, independent adult. To survive, you need to learn how to do for yourself, but most college students have a reputation for living off of ramen noodles and cheap microwave dinners. Crockpot meals and single pot dinners are big hits with cook-for-yourself college students. You can grab inexpensive ingredients, throw them together in a soup, chili, or stew, and eat well for a week on what you’ve made. No mess, no fuss.

Stash Cash for a Rainy Day
College students with loans commonly get a leftover amount in a check at the end of their school year. However, instead of spending that cash on nonsense that you don’t need, stash your cash for a rainy day. Not literally, but a time when you really need it. You never know when an extra hundred bucks will come in handy. You should also look into getting a part-time job to pay for school and everyday expenses.

Refurbished or Secondhand is Best
The allure of brand new electronics is a powerful one, but resist if you can. Instead of grabbing thousands of dollars of new high-tech gadgets, go with a refurbished Panasonic Toughbook. Or, shop secondhand for gently used electronics for your schoolwork. These tech gadgets still work perfectly, and a cosmetic scratch or two is easily covered with your favorite decals or custom stickers.

Stay Away from Obviously Bad Influences
In some ways, your first year of college can resemble high school, with cliques and possible conflicts around every corner. However, you can survive the first year of peer pressures and ridiculous behaviors by staying away from obviously bad influences. If someone never goes to class and prefers to constantly party, that’s someone you should probably avoid. Parties are great, and it’s good to go every once in a while. But know your limits, because you have a future to think about.

The above-mentioned quartet of college survival tips are no-brainers. You should work hard, think smart, and avoid the negatives. Easy-peasy. If you ever find yourself caught up in the parties and nonchalance of cliché college life, refer to the list above and reset your mindset.

Strategies for Saving Up a Down Payment

While minimum down payments have decreased, it is best to have at least a 20 percent down payment before purchasing a home in order to truly take advantage of the lowest interest rates, inexpensive monthly mortgage payments and overall savings, according to Betterment.com.

Prospective homebuyers also need to take into consideration other closing costs, like appraisal, private mortgage insurance and property taxes. You should also make sure you have an emergency fund and enough savings for potential home repairs, in addition to your down payment, before purchasing your home. Therefore, it is important that you are serious about saving your money before even considering buying a home even when the real estate scene in Malaysia is at its lower point these years.

Read these tips for saving up for a down payment, as well as other closing costs, home repairs and your emergency fund.

Open a Savings Account

If you are currently only using a checking account, open a savings account at the same bank or credit union. Using one financial institution is much more convenient, since most banks and credit unions allow you to transfer funds back and forth from accounts electronically and instantaneously. You can easily
move money into savings from your checking account online without visiting a physical bank. Savings accounts also tend to have a much higher interest rate than checking accounts, so this is an easy method of saving money while gaining more in interest.

Start a Budget
You can create a budget on a spreadsheet, according to The Simple Dollar. Write down your monthly gross income, then subtract taxes and other regular monthly costs -- like rent, gas, utilities, transportation, car payments, credit car bills and student loans -- from your paycheck. Once you have subtracted those steady costs, you can see how much money you have left each month and determine how to spend or save it.

Begin by tracking your spending for two or three months, writing down your restaurant, entertainment, parking and clothing expenses. You will be able to quickly see how much money you take in and how much goes out on a monthly basis and determine where costs can be cut. Income and expenses tend to be about the same from month to month, so the only way to start saving more money is to either bring in more money or change your spending habits.

Change Your Spending Habits

Determine if there are any costs that you can cut from your day-to-day life. For example, are you subscribed to any monthly services that you don’t really need? Do you really need to buy fancy coffee from the coffee shop every day or can you simply make coffee at home and bring it to work in a travel mug? Can you decrease the number of times you go out to eat at restaurants every month? Can you cut out going to the movies on a weekly basis? Once you change these spending habits, you can really start saving money. Don’t be afraid to be ruthless in cutting costs from your budget. Ask if each and every dollar is justified.

Bring in More Money

Those that save the most money are people who have multiple streams of income. If possible, take on an additional part-time or even full-time job. Consider freelance writing or selling any clothing or belonging you no longer want on websites like eBay. You can also start your own side business to earn more money. Starting a business could be financially risky, as many businesses fail. However, starting a successful business is one of the best ways to build your savings.

Check Interest Rates

Interest rates differ vastly for credit cards, saving accounts, car loans and other types of loans and accounts. Therefore, it is important that you go through every bill and account and check the interest rate on each to determine if you can do better. For example, if you are consistently paying off your credit card payments, then you should call your credit card company and tell them that you want a lower interest rate. You can easily achieve a lower rate just by asking.

With car loans, it often makes sense to prepay your debt, but many loans use a sum-of-the-digits interest calculation, in which case, prepayments are a less attractive option. Auto lenders are exempted from rules that mortgage lenders are subjected to, which means that auto loans are less regulated. If
you are paying really high interest on your car, it might make sense to sell it and buy a less expensive used car instead, especially if you want to focus on saving money for your down payment right now.

Check Your Credit Score

Your ability to borrow money for your home is closely linked to your credit score. Therefore, it is crucial that you have strong credit. Check your credit score on a regular basis to make sure that it does not have any errors and to know and understand where you stand and if you need to improve. Make sure that you check your credit report for factual errors or out-of-date items several months before you apply for your mortgage, so that you have enough time to take care of any errors or disputes before getting pre-approved for your home loan.

Accept Gifts

There is another source of savings that is often overlooked and that is gifts. You are allowed to use gifts from parents, relatives and friends for your down payment. In order for money to be recognized as a gift, the donor must sign a gift letter, explaining that there is no expectation of repayment or interest.

There are also down payment assistance programs that help first-time buyers purchase homes. While some offer interest reductions and tax benefits, others offer grants that don’t need to be repaid. Look into these assistance programs and determine whether you fit the qualifications before moving forward with applying for grants or gifts.
