Closing Ceremony Ibu Nakhoda Hidup 2018




 Last week I attended a meaningful event which is the Closing Ceremony Ibu Nakhoda Hidup 2018.

 Ibu Nakhoda Hidup programme has successfully run another year after a nationwide tour to 10 MYDINs since earlier in March this year. The programme co-organised by Mydin Mohamed Holdings Berhad (MYDIN), Proter & Gamble (P&G) and Pertubuhan Pembangunan Kendiri Wanita dan Gadis (WOMEN:girls) saw growth and improvement from participating mother entreprenuer across Malaysia. As an extension of Tabung Hulurkan Harapan P&G and MYDIN, for 2018 the Ibu Nakhoda Hidup programme successfully raised RM106,078.55 which will used to further assist and enhance the businesses of 5 selected mothers for Ibu Nakhoda Hidup 2018 and also to reach out to more business organisations and universities to provide mentoring for the women within the programme. The aim of this engagement is to allow knowledge sharing on business mapping for growth projection. Tabung Hulurkan Harapan fund is raised through the purchases of P&G products at MYDIN from 15 March until 21 May 2018.


The highlight of the closing ceremony of Ibu Nakhoda Hidup 2018 is the open community pledge suession for Ibu Nakhoda Hidup alumni where the public can provide suggestions, network and offer support to the mothers in their own possible way. Not only will it give the alumni a better view of market demand, it will also allow personal interaction with potential customers.


The ceremony ends with a cheque presentation worth RM106,078.55 by Datuk Wira (Dr.) Haji Ameer Ali Mydin, Datin Wira Dr. Hajah Siti Hawa Mohd and Ms. Teoh Gaik May, General Manager of P&G Malaysia to the President of WOMEN:girls, Ms. Low Ngai Yuen.


On top of that, Ibu Nakhoda Hidup programme has been getting a lot of support from other organisations as well including Tekun National (Selangor), Kelab Usahawan Selangor, Hijrah Selangor, Women Entrepreneur Network Association (WENA) and Giat MARA (Johor) throughout the roadshows and on-ground engagement.


The Ibu Nakhoda 2018 search that will end by this 31 July 2018 has already received 117 participants. From all the 15 alumni of the Ibu Nakhoda Hidup programme, the 2018 closing ceremony were joined by all five 2015 alumnus, Ibsatulhaily Ibrahim, Roziah Asman, Farah Izyan, Ratna Adnan and Tengku Norhaslinda; 2016 almnus Mazleen Mahmood and Rohaiza Selamat as well as 2017 alumnus Azizah Ahmad, Haimisah Mahli, and Anita Ohman.


As for the nationwide tour, the 10 MYDIN locations WOMEN:girls team went to includes MYDIN USJ (Selangor), MYDIN Meru Raya, and MYDIN Parti Buntar (Perak), MYDIN Senawang (Negeri Sembilan), MYDIN Gong Badak (Terengganu), MYDIN MiTC (Melaka), MYDIN Taman Batik (Kedah), MYDIN Bukit Mertajam (Penang), MYDIN Vista Tunku (Sarawak) and MYDIN Mutiara Rini (Johor Bharu).


In addition, a weekly photo contest on Instagram was held for public participation which requires contestants to spot the WOMEN:girls team in MYDIN during their on-ground nationwide tour and tag three entrepreneurs they know in the caption. The lucky winners were selected weekly to receive MYDIN shopping vouchers worth RM50 with the Grand Prize of MYDIN shopping vouchers worth RM1,500.

iMeriah - Unique Takaful Coverage for MYDIN Meriah Card Members

MYDIN and AmMetLife Takaful join together to provide critical support for families in times of need. 
Mydin Mohamed Holdings Bhd. in collaboration with AmMetLife Takaful Berhad ("AmMetLife Takaful") provides iMeriah Takaful coverage exclusively for eligible MYDIN Meriah Card members nationwide. MYDIN Loyalty and Rewards Programme, introduced iMeriah to reward their loyal customers who have supported Mydin Mohamad Holdings Bhd. all these years. MYDIN is the pioneer in Malaysia for this kind of arrangement, which provides coverage in terms of monthly groceries for Meriah Card members who shop in MYDIN store nationwide. iMeriah is unique and innovative shariah compliant Takaful plan, managed by AmMetLife Takaful, which provides coverage against death with takaful benefits in the form of goods instead of cash.


How does iMeriah work?
  1.  MYDIN Meriah Card members who are above 18 years old and not more than 49 years old and are citizens or permanent residents of Malaysia will be eligible for iMeriah. 
  2. These eligible Meriah Card members who cumulatively spend a minimum o RM600 at selected MYDIN stores with their Meriah Card in a particular calendar month will be immediately covered under iMeriah in the following calendar month. 
  3. The takaful coverage is FREE for Meriah Card members as the cost iMeriah coverage is borne by MYDIN which means that there is no cost charged to the customers.
  4. The duration of iMeriah coverage is for one month and the coverage will be renewed each time the minimum monthly spending criterion of RM600 is met by eligible Meriah Card members.
  5. When there is an occurrence of death of the covered Meriah card member, the nominee of the member will be provided with RM300 every month for a period of 12 months to spend for daily necessities at selected MYDIN stores.
  6. The unique Takaful benefit provided by iMeriah also takes into account that if the benefit amount is not fully utilised at end of the 12 month period, the balance will be given to the nominee in the form of MYDIN vouchers. Existing MYDIN Meriah Card members can submit their nominee details for iMeriah Takaful coverage at MYDIN's Customer Service counters nationwide. As for shoppers who would like to register to a MYDIN Meriah Card; nomination can be made during registration of new membership.

Suria Jaya's Anchor Signing Ceremony with Mydin Mart


Ancubic Capital Sdn Bhd, the developer of Suria Jaya, Seksyen 16 Shah Alam, Selangor announced on 4 October that it has entered into lease agreements with Tri Shaas Sdn Bhd. which operates as Mydin Mart, one of MYDIN franchises as their anchor tenant. MYDI, a home grown company is one of the largest and well established retail in Malaysia. Two Mydin Mart outlets owned by Tri Shaas Sdn Bhd. were opened in Shah Alam which are located at Seksyen 18 (August 2017) and Sri Muda (June 2010). This is third franchise and tentatively open by end of 2016. Mydin Mart is the first few retail larger format that offers non-food items and later extended to include fresh & green goods such as meat, vegetables, fruits etc. The signing of the auspicious event was conducted by YBhg. Dato' B.A. Low, the Managing Director of Ancubic Capital Sdn. Bhd., of the Suria Jaya Retail Center and the representative of Mydin Mart, Tuan Siraj Pyar Ali, the Managing Director of Tri Shaas Sdn Bhd. and witness by YBhg. Datuk Wira (Dr.) Haji Ameer Ali Mydn, the Managing Director Mohamed Holdings Bhd. at Ancubic Capital Gallery located in Shah Alam, Selangor on 4 October. 

Officially signed as an anchor tenant with Ancubic at Suria Jaya e-sofo. This Mydin Mart will be the third outlet under Tri Shaas Sdn Bhd. at Shah Alam.

Mydin Mart will lease from Ancubic Capital a total over 20,000 net square feet retail space in retail centre-based store located in Seksyen 16, Shah Alam, Selangor. The space is expected to be delivered to Mydin Mart by the end of the year, sits under 479 SOFO units from the smallest units' size of 430 square feet to over 800 square feet per unit. This particular hypermarket has a unique format comprising of four retail category components such as food retail, fashion, beauty services and general retail & services. The food retail section will occupy over 11,000 net square feet on the lower level, while fashion, beauty services, general retail and services section will occupy over approximately 9,000 net square feet on the upper level. By having Mydin Mart within the area, it will be convenient for the nearby blue collars workforce and parents of the nearby schools to meet their daily groceries needs. The opening of Mydin Mart at SURIA JAYA also is expected to add 400 jobs to the local economy as well as create more business opportunities within the area.

Suria Jaya is developed by Ancubic Capital Sdn Bhd on a 87,120 sq.ft freehold land is easily noticed with just a mere 5 minutes' drive from the federal highway. P&G, MYDIN & WOMEN:girls LAUNCHED 2ND SEASON OF IBU NAKHODA HIDUP PROGRAMME


Procter & Gamble (P&G) Malaysia, Mydin Mohamed Holdings Bhd and Pertubuhan Pembangunan Kendiri Wanita dan Gadis (WOMEN:girls) today launched the second season of the Ibu Nakhoda Hidup 2016 programme with a series of roadshows starting from Mydin Mall in USJ Subang Jaya. The roadshows will then make its way to Kelantan, Terengganu, Johor and Penang from 15th April to 15th May. The Ibu Nakhoda Hidup programme was introduced in 2015 under P&G Malaysia and MYDIN’s Hulurkan Harapan Fund to support mothers who are aspiring entrepreneurs who envision expanding their businesses to a larger market.

The search for Ibu Nakhoda Hidup 2016 has reached out to community spaces around the Klang Valley such as Flat Sri Tioman in Taman Melati, Setapak; Pangsapuri Vista Angkasa in Kampung Kerinchi and PPR Seri Pantai in Pantai Dalam. The on-ground outreach sessions focused on engaging in discussions on obstacles, ways, opportunities and potential relating to the participant businesses. This year’s Ibu Nakhoda Hidup submission is open from 15th April until 30th of June 2016.


The Ibu Nakhoda Hidup programme was launched in May 2015 under the P&G and MYDIN’s Hulurkan Harapan Fund. The Hulurkan Harapan Fund was created in 2013 to help support initiatives championed by P&G. For the first two years, funds raised under the Hulurkan Harapan Fund have contributed towards helping children with special needs. In 2015, the Fund focused on supporting mothers who are entrepreneurs in scaling and expanding their businesses. Support given through the Hulurkan Harapan Fund have helped them in terms of providing them with machinery, equipment and business deals to promote their brands to a larger market. Five Ibu Nakhoda Hidup were chosen in 2015 – Ibsatulhaily Ibrahim, Farah Izyan, Ratna Adnan, Tengku Norhaslinda and Roziah Asman.

The Ibu Nakhoda Hidup 2015 alumni members, sat together with WOMEN:girls president, Ms. Low Ngai Yuen, and shared stories of their journeys at the event.

The #IbuNakhodaHidup campaign was also launched in conjunction with Mother’s Day and the public are encouraged to upload a picture of their mothers and share the stories about how their mothers are the navigators of their lives on Instagram to grab the chance to win ten limited edition Ibu Nakhoda Hidup washing machines.

Contest starts on the 15th of April and ends on the 15th of May 2016.

MYDIN AND AIRASIA BIG ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP AND KICK OFF THE ‘SHOP EVERYDAY, FLY TODAY’ CAMPAIGN



One of the Malaysia retail scene, Mydin Mohamed Holdings Bhd. (MYDIN) has embarked on a new partnership with AirAsia BIG that is AirAsia’s Loyalty Programme. Today, MYDIN Meriah Loyalty Programme (Meriah) members can earn points and convert it to redeem for free AirAsia flights.

Maslan, Deputy Finance Minister Malaysia visited MYDIN USJ, Subang Jaya towards preparation implementation Goods Service Tax (GST) and campaign in conjunction 'Gerenti Semua MYDIN Tanggung' (GSMT), Harga Tak Naik! Which means 'Guarantee All Bear by MYDIN' (GSMT), Price Will Not Increase!"

As wholesale company and native own retail, MYDIN is committed to ease the burden of consumer in line with slogan commerce MYDIN that's 'Why Pay More? Buy With Wholesale Prices!' 'Mengapa Bayar Lebih? Belilah Dengan Harga Borong!'.  



MYDIN bold action in one campaign as Kempen Gerenti Semua MYDIN Tanggung (GSMT). 
In generally, this campaign is establish because to look after welfare interest of consumers so that the consumers will not feel burden with actual concept of GST later. 

Steps taken by MYDIN this is the first step taken by retail and wholesale traders to scale in Malaysia to correct the perception that people thought that the purchasing power of consumers will be affected by the implementation of the GST because of bulk goods relatively more expensive on the market.

Many users assume that the implementation of GST will burden them because consumers will pay a surplus of 6% of the selling price in the market.


Implementation GSMT campaign also aims to maintain the existing prices in Supermarkets MYDIN compatible with the campaign slogan GSMT that's "Harga Tak Naik". 

GST future post, consumers are still able to buy the same goods jumping on rates as the pre-GST in MYDIN. For example, if before GST, consumer purchased 10 items in MYDIN with payment of RM300, after the implementation of the GST later, consumer still can buy the 10 items and paying the same price of RM300 in MYDIN!

GST campaign designed by MYDIN not only well received by users and has got good support and a collective of ministries and government agencies. In yesterday newspaper section of "New Straits Times", "consumers have the right to buy and choose" this clearly illustrates the usability principles that every consumer has the right to buy the business premises offering affordable prices.

In conclusion, the GST is a tax system that is more transparent, effective, efficient, effective and customer friendly. With the user can know the GST tax imposed even they only only one rate of 6%. It is the hope of all people, especially to those users will continue to be welcoming and always support the implementation of the GST. Any questions or problems related to the GST, the user can refer directly to the Royal Malaysian Customs Department.

Meet & Greet with Felixia Yeap (Rara) at MYDIN USJ

This afternoon I attended the Meet & Greet with Felixia Yeap (Rara)

Launch Flood Disaster Humanity Fund Mission MYDIN & POKB "Ringgit for Ringgit"

This morning I attended the Launch Flood Disaster Humanity Fund Mission MYDIN & POKB "Ringgit for Ringgit". 


Lately flood incidents in several states in Malaysia especially in West Malaysia namely Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Perak, Johor, Selangor and Perlis that worries many parties. More than 225, 371 flood victims affected througout the country. It's sad to know many people are left homeless,  properties damage and children without their uniforms to start school in Jan 2015.  

This launch of Flood Disaster Humanity Fund Mission MYDIN & POKB with the existence of this fund, Malaysians who want to donate but do not know what it wants to be donated and where it wants to be channeled donations may contribute to this fund that will be placed at all branches nationwide MYDIN and MYMYDIN.

Noble humanitarian mission that prevailed earlier between MYDIN and POKB such as joint mission Gaza Humanitarian Fund in 2012 was the catalyst for the determination and strength in order to launch a humanitarian fund today.

The Launch Flood Disaster Humanity Fund Mission MYDIN & POKB "Ringgit for Ringgit". Every Ringgit you donate will be doubled as a sign of their support for this humanitarian mission. Example, if you donated RM100 ringgit, MYDIN will double the amount to RM200 ringgit. 

The holistic manner, Launch Disaster Relief Fund Mission MYDIN & POKB is intended to provide assistance in the form of long-term to the flood victims. This assistance includes three stages for the purposes of the goods at the present time, spending the early preparation of school children affected by the floods, the cost of rehabilitation of the flood victims and survival.
